Two new trail exhibits for fall 2024!
Animals of This Forest and Interpreting Animal Tracks Did you know mourning cloak butterflies overwinter in the forest? Or that the wood thrush migrates thousands of miles each spring to spend the summer here to nest? Enjoy a new series of trailside exhibits that focus on... animal fun! Stroll along the trail and take part in various activities that explore some of the animals that depend on this urban gem of a forest. Match birds to their feathers, learn about the forest food web in "here's my diet, want to try it?" Pair the scat to its maker in "Whose scat is that?"... and more! Our Forest Explorer series features 8 unique stops where you can try your hand at interpreting animal track scenarios. Together, all 8 scenes tell the story of a deer, a bobcat, a crow, and a bear as we follow their interactions in the woods. Ask yourself, who has been here? What happened? What might happen next? Just like a real animal tracker! Fun for all. See you in the woods! |
