Self-guided Nature Trail
Featured ExperienceExhibits along a one mile loop deepen understanding of this special place
There is something for everyone here in this first-of-many planned exhibit rotations.
The spring 2024 exhibit is "Humans Need, Forests Provide," sponsored in part by a grant from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Wisconsin. Did you know Wisconsin's forests weren't always cared for with the future in mind? Forests once furnished employment and resources for early settlers, but due to lack of reforestation efforts, the land was soon after considered almost worthless. This was Wisconsin, without sustainably managed forests. Stroll the trail, learn how the practice of sustainable forestry saved the day for Wisconsin's forested landscapes, wildlife and forest product industries. Discover different forest types, where our forests are and who owns them. Learn about the many benefits of today's sustainably managed forests, providing renewable, recyclable and natural products to us each and every day. We hope you enjoy this new exploration into our rich forest heritage and history through the lens of sustainable forestry! |
